Identifying the Lies and Replacing it with Truth: Staff Reflections

In the last year our area’s ministry has faced its fair share of battles; from losing leaders to moves, getting kicked off school campus, and death of loved ones. At this point you’re probably thinking this is the most depressing update ever. Keep reading, it gets better.

I’ve had the amazing opportunity to attend a Men’s Breakfast this year, which meets every Thursday at 6am. Now if you know anything about Young Life, you know that we have a lot of late nights. As you could imagine these two ingredients don’t usually mix.  I can't lie and say that I felt comfortable my first time as I was the youngest at my table by at lest 10 years, but I knew that God doesn't just put people in our lives on a whim.

The lie that was in front of me was that there would be no value in this for me and this would deplete my energy in other areas of the ministry. It didn't take long for God to smack me in the head with truth. Today, I continue to stumble in every week at 6am, but now I am greeted with manly handshakes and warm smiles. I know that these men of God are pouring into me. In Young Life we pursue and pour into kids that feel unwanted and out of place in their lives, but we continue to love them deeply.

The lie that we can easily believe, especially during tough times, is that this is our ministry to accomplish. The truth is and always was, that Jesus is doing His wonderful and eternal work in and through us and Young Life. Your support continues to change lives. Thank you.

                    Blessings,
